Alderman Dowell hosted a town hall meeting on June 23rd to further discuss the TIF request for “The 78” development. At the meeting, residents heard from representatives of the Chicago Fire who are building a new privately-financed soccer stadium on the site, Related Midwest who are the developers of the broader “The 78” project, the Chicago Department of Planning and Development who explained the TIF request and what TIF funding can/cannot be used for, and the Chicago Department of Transportation who helped explain the infrastructure investments needed for the site to make it viable for development. After the presentation, Alderman Dowell and the presenters took questions directly from residents on the development. Thank you to the hundreds of attendees who took the time to provide input on the development, and to all the presenters for so thoroughly explaining the proposed development.
If you missed the meeting, a copy of the video is available below. Additional questions and comments regarding the development can be directed to Alderman Dowell’s office at Ward03@cityofchicago.org.
